These mids are part of a family of Money Cat sb's that also include a low and a high. They represent the Maneki Neko or Money Cat, a lucky sculpture seen commonly around Japan. Opinions differ, but my take is that the order of niceness for this pack is mids>lows>highs.
MATERIALS: The toebox, upper rear, swoosh and area around the swoosh are all leather. The strap is patent leather and the rest of the shoe is suede with red contrast stitching. There's a black midsole with red stitching and a gum outsole. My pair came with red and black sb laces.
FEATURES: Similar to the lows, there's a flower symbol on the outside just behind the toebox, a symbol on the tongue tag, and a print of the money cat with raised paw in front of the flower symbol on the insole.
STREET VALUE: $175-$275
MY NOTES ON ACTUALLY WEARING THESE: These are really comfortable. The main problems with upkeep on the shoe are that the toebox creases rather quickly and the gold can get spotty and change color over time. Neither of these are really possible to fully prevent, but since the shoe is mostly dark colors it tends to stay looking clean as possible on its own. I'd clean the gumsole after ever wear as a minimum precaution to keeping these fresh. I wouldn't really tie these to a season, they work best in winter but really all you need is a black tee and these are good to go any time of year!
