SNEAKER REVIEW - DUNK LOW SB "OBSIDIAN"

These came out towards the end of 2009 and kind of flew under the collector radar; likely due to the thin tongue and lack of a clear basis or idea for the shoe.

Here's a picture of them on foot:MATERIALS: The blue parts of the uppers are suede, along with the swoosh. The sides around the swoosh are perforated leather and the toebox is made of a griptape-like material. There is also leather on the upper heel, and some mesh portions in this area as well. The shoes have a white midsole with black stitching and a grayish outsole. My pair came with white and black sb laces.
FEATURES: There's no special insole or other feature with these sb's.
STREET VALUE: retail
MY NOTES ON ACTUALLY WEARING THESE: These are very comfortable if not a bit stiff on the first wear, although they have a fairly quick break in period. The grip tape toebox is not immune to creasing, so prep for creases within 3 wears. The dark suede helps with the shoe not looking dingy (as opposed to lighter suede), and the shoe is just ruggedly built in general, so the wearer doesn't have to constantly worry about dirt or cleaning from normal wear. It also goes well with business casual if the black laces are used, but you can swap in the white laces if you need more "pop". I'd recommend dry winter days for this shoe, best not to tempt fate even with the darker suede, and the overall dark tone of the shoe makes it great for the holidays. Again, for versatility in brighter months swap in the white laces and rock at will!
