Done in collaboration with Nike team skater Theotis Beasley, these dunks evoke a strong "love it or hate it" response from most sneakerheads. Many believe that a different color other than purple would have worked better with the safari theme regardless of the supposed inspiration for the dunk. While not an immediate sellout, those that have copped the shoe may find that it is in fact a decent and unique addition to their collection as there's really no other shoe out there that catches the eye in quite the same way!
MATERIALS: The purple parts are suede, the safari parts are a leather type material. They have a white midsole with matching stitching and a purple outsole. My pair came with white and purple sb laces.
FEATURES: The main feature would probably be the safari print, with the double swoosh also adding some flavor to the mix. The shoes are said to be based off of the jetski driven by Kenny Powers, the fictional main character from the show Eastbound and Down.
STREET VALUE: retail
MY NOTES ON ACTUALLY WEARING THESE: These are very comfy. If you're not used to the padding on newer dunk low sb's, these might take about 5 minutes to get used to, but after that you'll likely not notice it at all. These will crease a bit eventually, but the main thing to worry about on the shoe is keeping the light purple suede from getting wet or dirty. Try to avoid wearing these when it's raining or anywhere with a lot of dirt or mud. The shoes could really fit into any season; with the purple laces on they seem to be more of a winter shoe, but swap out to the white and the shoe is brightened up a bit and can work with a spring 'fit.
