Twenty five years after their initial release, these special AJ1's had a highly anticipated retro drop in 2010 and released in this colorway as well as a black/red/white pair. The white/red is certainly the less popular of the two, although I personally like it better. Of course, the faux "dirt" added towards the bottom of the retros is polarizing among collectors, some of which would prefer to dirty their own kicks, but that did not stop the shoe from selling or sneakerheads from coming up with ways to clean the shoe up from its initial state. I couldn't find detail on exactly what the "KO" stands for, but these are easily differentiated from regular Jordan 1's by their canvas upper and the Jordan wings on the side of the outer ankle that read AJKO.
MATERIALS: The uppers are all canvas except the swoosh which is leather. These have a white midsole with matching stitching and a red outsole. My pair came with flat white laces.
FEATURES: These have a vintage look applied to the mid-and-outsole.
STREET VALUE: $120
MY NOTES ON ACTUALLY WEARING THESE: These are very comfortable. These won't crease quickly, but can get dingy easily; in fact they start off kind of dingy looking. I'd avoid letting any dirt or liquids contact the shoe just to be safe. There are two schools of thought on these shoes: remove the "vintage" effect on the midsole or leave it on. If you leave it on, the shoe will always look a little dirty but that can be used to your advantage if the shoe gets stained - it's supposed to look like that! If the midsole bothers you, you can easily clean it off as I have with soap and water. Either way, these are a good shoe to wear in sunny weather with the white uppers adding a crisp look to any outfit, regardless of the pre-aged materials.
