In the movie Back to the Future II, actor Michael J. Fox wore the Nike Air Mag as part of his character Marty McFly. Several years later, Nike began using the same colorway on a number of kicks, most notably a pair of ultra-limited hyperdunks in 2008. These released the same year, bringing some attention to Nike's (at the time) most "technical" skate shoe. Although nowadays, pretty much anything with gray, light blue and white on it could be considered a McFly colorway, at the time there were only a few shoes sporting this look. I'll admit, I had ignored pretty much every tre release until these came out. Good thing I grabbed a pair when I had the chance; the Tre line has since been eliminated from the sb lineup.
MATERIALS: These have a few different textures on the uppers; the eyelets and area around the swoosh are a super soft almost suede-like material while the rest is leather with a rubber toebox The midsole is gray (with blue speckles around the toebox) with a gray and blue sole. These came with greenish blue and white sb laces.
FEATURES: These feature a glow in the dark swoosh and are named after the resemblance in colorway to the Air Mag from the movie.
STREET VALUE: retail
MY NOTES ON ACTUALLY WEARING THESE: These definitely have a snug fit but are otherwise comfortable. The light gray portions of course can get marked up pretty easily and although the toebox won't crease, some of the areas beneath the eyelets can. If you are not planning on skating these, I'd definitely keep them away from dust and dirt to prolong the fresh look. The shoes go well with khakis or other light colored pants and tops.
