SNEAKER REVIEW - AIR JORDAN 1 PHAT LOW "PORTLAND"

The AJ1 Phat Low is basically a lowtop Jordan I with a puffier tongue and fatter laces, to make it sort of a skate shoe. At one point I had several pairs of this model, but I've narrowed it down to this one pair that released in February of last year, which I personally consider the best colorway and usage of materials. This particular edition was part of a larger pack of shoes that celebrate Michael Jordan's various championship victories over several teams. This is supposedly based off of the colorway for a team that Jordan beat to win a championship in 1992 - the Portland trailblazers. A reverse released as well that was mostly white.

Here's a picture of them on foot:

MATERIALS: The shoe is mostly very short haired, soft suede, except the swoosh and around the toebox and heel which are patent leather. They have a red midsole with black stitching and an white outsole. My pair came with black flat laces.
FEATURES: These have 6 trophies on the heel with the second one being highlighted to signify his second championship ring. There is also a special print on the insole.
STREET VALUE: retail
MY NOTES ON ACTUALLY WEARING THESE: Low Phats in general are comfy if not a little big, and this pair is no exception. Unfortunately, the narrow toebox prevents one from sizing down, so unless the wearer's feet are narrow, they will have to rock the shoe in a little larger size than needed for comfort. The cushioning on this pair is really soft - almost squishy. The patent leather around the toebox will crease at the flex point. The super short haired suede actually shouldn't be that hard to clean as it is black, and patent leather is easy as well. If the soles are cleaned after every wear (at least the visible part), these will always look fairly clean. Black and red can work with any season but the suede might dissuade a cautious person from wearing these in rainier months. I'd stick to summer/fall for these even though they are mostly black.
