I've heard that different Kobe models alternate from year to year with a blackout and whiteout release, i.e. we have the whiteout for the 4 and a blackout for the 5. These don't really have any ties to any specific team, yet although these were technically a general release, they sold out fairly quickly and of course are now tough to find in good condition. It's taken me a while to find nice enough weather to un-deadstock these and today's finally the day!
MATERIALS: The toebox and area around the collar are leather, the sides are flywire, and the rest of the white uppers are a rubbery leather type material with snakeskin texture. The midsole is white with a white and gray sole. These come with gray-spotted white laces
FEATURES: These are featureless for Kobes and get their name from the mostly white uppers.
STREET VALUE: retail
MY NOTES ON ACTUALLY WEARING THESE: These are very comfortable. Like most Kobe IV's, they are going to crease on the toebox, but it will take a while and the shoe wipes down back to near pristine. Spend a little extra time cleaning the sole after every wear for optimum freshness. This shoe just screams out summertime; you basically can pair these with a white top and be good to go with minimal fuss.
